I can't believe how amazing the character design is for Hellboy II. I am not really a comic-book movie nerd. I really liked Hellboy, and I think Guillermo del Toro is the real deal (as is Mike Mignola!).

But this new movie has the best alien creatures I have seen since 1977, and I am as excited about seeing these weird things come to life as I was when I was 7 years old waiting to see Star Wars. Look at these guys!

Plus, check out the intersection of Gary Panter and Marvel Comics. I like to think of myself as more of a RAW guy than a superhero guy, but this meeting of the minds has Jack Kirby written all over it.

Thanks to Drawn! for writing this up.

Another great children's book for anyone whose kids love Halloween (in April): The Witch Casts a Spell. Fantastic spooky yet enchanting collage illustrations of Halloweenland by Barbara Olsen.

Well here is a double-whammy of goodness. I had posted earlier this video by Paul Walker, which is fantastic all by itself. Taking another look, I have deduced that Mr Walker is part of Margin Walker, which has several charming and clever animation videos available at their website.

One of them features Colargol by Tadeusz Wilkosz. Please go find out about him. Great Polish stop motion animations for you!!

Looks like Drawn! found him last year. I missed it. Maybe you did too?

If you were wondering where the Singeon site went, it went here. Apparently Singeon's mom found out about the other website, and threw it away.

No, I'm kidding. I don't know what happened to it.

Here is his myspace page, which is also lovely.
