PS: The only thing holding that back was the "sound of one hand clapping" soundtrack. Turn down the volume, turn up some quirky electronica (orbital?) with >120 bpm, and hot-diggety.
It seems they do it with a digital camera shooting an endless series of long (couple of seconds?)exposures.
