I give up. Anyone know any good visual links for Douglas Gordon, or do I have to drag my pasty little behind to a gallery to experience this crazy-sounding stuff?
Such as, say, his experience of watching Otto Preminger's Whirlpool... "two copies of the film projected simultaneously, side by side, with the left-hand version projected 'correctly,' and the one on the right horizontally flipped - almost as if the artist were creating a Rorschach doubling with projectors" (from Perpetual Motion by Chris Chang, in Film Comment Sept-Oct 2006)... plus, by the way, he removed every other frame, so the film strobes.
Plus, he made a projection of Psycho that lasts 24 hours.
And on and on. Sounds amazing... yet he is not available for us gallery-avoiders. So, off we go to NYC or someplace I guess...
